Maltese
The Maltese is known as "ye ancient dog of Malta".
And, according to the AKC has been an aristocrat of the canine world. He
is small, affectionate, gentle mannered and playful. He has long white
hair which does not shed. Keeping it long demands attention, but he still
looks really cute and is more comfortable with it kept short. AKC SHOW
STANDARD lists his weight as between 4 and 7 pounds. He makes a wonderful
family pet. It is advisable, as with any toy breed dog, to treat him
gently, especially during his puppy months.
